Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation Wins Evergy Hometown Economic Recovery Program Grant

Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation, a nonprofit serving six counties in Northwest Missouri, is thrilled to announce that we are receiving a grant from Evergy’s Hometown Economic Recovery Program! This grant will go towards the organization’s operating costs. (#evergyrelief)

Keli Morris, Enterprise Facilitator, has remained active throughout the shutdown and subsequent challenges the organization and its clients have faced due to Covid-19. Even when she was working from home, she spent hours narrowing down the best resources available for businesses through webinars and online contacts.  Now that she is working one-on-one again with clients, she is on the go and available to help with whatever they need, even advising them on filling out applications for assistance.

NWMEF is an economic development project which serves six counties including Andrew, Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway and Worth. The Enterprise Facilitator meets with entrepreneurs and those who have a dream to start a business in our rural area. She also helps existing businesses who are struggling or need a “tweak.” Services are offered free and are strictly confidential. The organization has a “think tank” known as the Resource Board comprised of more than 70 volunteer board members from each county as well as regional representation. This body operates as “connectors and advocates” in each of the counties for the specific needs of the clients.

NWMEF itself has been struggling financially due to the cancellation of its main fundraiser “The Great Northwest Missouri Wine Fest” held each year in Mound City. The Hometown Economic Recovery Program Grant from Evergy is a timely help for the organization.

All small businesses in our area should feel free to use the NWMEF services for confidential business coaching, provided free of charge by the nonprofit. Contact Keli Morris at 816-262-9400 or at facilitator@nwmef.org. To learn more about Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation, go to the web at www.nwmef.org.
